Visual Analytics of Contact Tracing Policy Simulations During an Emergency Response

چکیده
Epidemiologists use individual-based models to (a) simulate disease spread over dynamic contact networks and (b) investigate strategies control the outbreak. These model simulations generate complex ‘infection maps’ of time-varying transmission trees patterns spread. Conventional statistical analysis outputs offers only limited interpretation. This paper presents a novel visual analytics approach for inspection infection maps along with their associated metadata, developed collaboratively 16 months in an evolving emergency response situation. We introduce concept representative that summarize many components map while preserving epidemiological characteristics each individual tree. also present interactive visualization techniques quick assessment different policies. Through series case studies qualitative evaluation by epidemiologists, we demonstrate how our visualizations can help improve development interpret patterns.

The Politics and Analytics of Health Policy
Let us start with an example of health policy analysis in action. Within that category of countries loosely known as ‘the West’, quite basic differences exist in attitudes to health policy and also actual health policy. Comparing the US with mainland Europe and indeed Canada, for example, one perceives a difference in attitude on the part of the majority towards collectivism and individualism i...

Received: 1 December 2007 Accepted: 5 January 2008 Online publication date: 14 February 2008 Abstract During emergency response events, situational awareness is critical in effectively managing and safe-guarding civilians and in-field personnel. To better support both command center controllers and in-field operators, we have developed a mobile visual analytics tool to help enhance situational ...
متن کاملAn fMRI study of human visual cortex in response to spatiotemporal properties of visual stimuli
ABSTRACT Background: The brain response to temporal frequencies (TF) has been already reported, but with no study reported for different TF with respect to various spatial frequencies (SF). Materials and Methods: fMRI was performed by 1.5T GE-system in 14 volunteers during checkerboard, with TFs of 4, 6, 8 and 10Hz in low and high SFs of 0.5 and 8cpd. Results: Average percentage BOLD signa...
متن کاملAnalyzing simulations of biochemical systems with feature-based visual analytics
Spatial simulations of biochemical systems are carried out to gain insight into nature’s underlying mechanisms. However, such simulations are usually difficult to set up and they generate large and complex data. In order to help scientists understand their models and the data generated by the simulations, appropriate visual support can be a decisive factor. In this paper, we apply and extend id...
متن کاملA Visual Analytics Framework for Emergency Room Clinical Encounters
High costs, lack of speed, non-intuitive interfaces, and inefficient, fragmented display of patient information have hindered the adoption of the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Critical factors inhibiting adoption of the EMR include the time spent by the health care providers (HCP) in accessing and also documenting patient information during clinical encounters. We describe an emerging visual ...
